President Orders Reserve Forces to Help in Atlantic Resolve

Designated as a contingency operation to aid in defense efforts.

President Joe Biden recently issued an executive order to mobilize up to 3,000 personnel from military reserve forces into active duty under U.S. European Command. They are being authorized to serve as a contingency operation for Operation Atlantic Resolve, a commitment the U.S. made in 2014 in the wake of Russia’s invasion of Crimea to bolster NATO’s defenses with a steady rotation of allied units.

“This new designation benefits troops and families with increases in authorities, entitlements, and access to the reserve component forces and personnel,” said Army Lt. General Douglas Sims, Joint Staff director of operations. “This [executive order] reaffirms the unwavering support and commitment to defend NATO’s eastern flank in the wake of Russia’s illegal and unprovoked war on Ukraine.”

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For General Christopher Cavoli as he heads the U.S. European Command.
  • For the thousands of U.S. reservists being activated for duty in Europe.
  • For discernment for the president and his military advisors as they deploy additional troops.
